How to: Start a New Hobby; Become a Scuba Diver

I've neglected my blog and vlog due to my life being a little more than hectic lately. Work has been crazy busy (thank god we've got two new staff starting in a couple of weeks!) and after week 2 I started feeling super run-down and exhausted. I think I went too hard too fast.

Anywho, while the wobbly bits remain in place, I have made lots of progress on my other resolutions!

First of all, I've started a new hobby. I'm doing burlesque dancing once a week for a bit of fun. It was a good choice to pick an active hobby and I'm finding burlesque is great for abs and bums. Not a smashing cardio workout but I love it, it's so much fun! I think it gives you greater body confidence; I loved the range of women at the class all getting into their burlesque personas. Big, small, young, old. All grinding their hips, twirling their arms and kicking their legs in the air to sexy old jazz. It was simple enough for me to get the hang of and my work friends had a giggle when I showed off my new moves the next day!

So, loving it. If I keep going, I might do a short course for 6 weeks, at the end of which your class performs as part of a "graduation" show in Northbridge. Would love to get into the glamour of it.

I start my scuba course on the weekend!!!!! My Scuba Extraordinaire boyfriend chucked me in the pool on Saturday with the full kit, so he's shown me how to put it together, use it, and take it apart so I've got a wee bit of a head start on the rest of the people on the course. In two weeks, I shall be qualified (provided I don't become a total retard in the water and fail)!

As for my main resolution, after a week of zero motivation and a busy busy schedule, I'm easing my way back into the exercise this week. I was doing too much when I started and I burnt out super fast because of it - I was trying to exercise twice a day which meant not only was I using lots of energy, I wasn't consuming much energy nor getting enough sleep. If I've got a solid routine going in a couple of weeks, I'll do a post about what I actually do...

On that note, I'll end up doing a nutrition post once I've got that all regular too. I'm generally pretty good with my diet but I've found at work I've started to forget to eat lunch if I'm working so hard, and I end up grazing on things like nuts, cruskits and nasties I shouldn't be eating. I started taking a few different vitamins/minerals at the start of the year and I think it's still a bit too early to comment on the difference they're making. I'll give it a few more weeks :)

Sorry for the jumbled post, I'm sure you all know the feeling of having a jumbled mind, a massive to-do list, little energy to tick things off and a bunch of things as priority #1 competing with each other. Right?!

I'm off to the Land of Nod so I can kick butt at life tomorrow. Work, training, baking for my selfless boyfriend (to get rid of my baking ya-yas whilst earning brownie points. Bi-winning).

Take care
